On April 15th last year, I was one of the last runners timed & scored. Over 4,000 runners behind me didn’t get to finish their race. On the one-month anniversary of the marathon, I got a tattoo on my right shoulder. It was one-part message to myself to “get back on the horse” and one-part message to those runners who didn’t get to finish. In just three weeks, many of them return to Boston, just like me. Still we rise. STILL WE RISE!

// Lofty Goals//

Although planned dinners and a regular workout schedule might not seem lofty, it is when you’re on call for 7 days straight! At the dreaded mercy of the pager!!!! 

My last post was about getting back on the wagon and I set about it by making some good food decisions and cooking some items in bulk for the week. We did pretty well but got derailed in the workout department with a massive snowstorm that started Wednesday and put us out of commission until Friday. And then I was lazy. And then I got called into an emergency surgery on Saturday. SO today I will be starting again! Batch cooking plans include paleo muffins and paleo granola

Meals and workouts for the week = 

Sunday: Roast chicken and veggies; run 6 miles

Monday: Left overs; 5:30am bootcamp

Tuesday: Spaghetti squash and sausage; swim, upper body weights

Wednesday: Leftovers; 5:30am bootcamp

Thursday:  Crockpot hawaiian pork; swim, leg day

Friday: Left overs; 5:30am bootcamp

Saturday: Out??

Of course this could all crumble if I get called in every night so stay tuned. The rule I set for myself: if I’m in bed by midnight at the latest with uninterrupted sleep, I do my workout! It will take a lot of fortitude but I know teamfinish will help me meet my goals!!!

// Falling off the Wagon//

Ugh. It is the worst feeling. You’ve been doing so well at eating healthy/going to the gym/getting your studying in/not picking your nose….you get it! Then you fall right off the wagon. Maybe it was the holidays or that horrible day that made you feel justified in splurging on that extra cheese, extra pepperoni, extra 3 pieces of pizza. But the splurge isn’t the bad part, that’s totally acceptable. Its the downhill slide that suddenly takes over all your will power. Its the big “fuck it”that goes through your head as you decide the rest of the week is totally wasted. “I’ll try harder next week” but right now I’m going to eat this donut.
